"Forget school. You're health is more important. Besides, it's 5 a.m.; the nurse doesn't arrive for another 3 hours, and even then, you're still in pretty unstable condition. There's only one nurse, and she has other patients; if something happens to you, she might not get to you in time." Sota soaked another towl, and replaced the one on Kairi's forehead, "I'm staying put, and that's final."
"Yep," said Sota, soaking the towl he removed from Kairi's forehead. With was still sleeping, next to Kairi.
With saw Kairi having trouble sleeping at first. He jumped from the area he was eating, and curled up into a ball next to her. Sota watched Kairi, occasionally changing her towl for a cooler one. A few hours passed, and the sun was starting to rise. It was around 5 am. Sota changed Kairi's towl again.
Sota saw Kairi sweating. He went to a nearby sink, filled a bowl with cold water, got a small towel, and dipped it into the bowl. He brought the bowl next to Kairi, squeezed the water out of the towl, folded it, and gently placed it onto Kairi's forehead.
Sota smiled. He pulled a chair close to Kairi and sat in it, so not to disturb her sleep.
Sota looked back and forth at With and Kairi, smiling at both.
I don't know what that is.
Sota smiled, then chuckled a little, at Kairi. With tugged a little on Sota's shirt, "Kyuuu..." his stomach growled. Sota reached into a sack he brought with him, "Sorry about that, With." He pulled out a container of strawberries, and With immediately went at it.
Sota shook his head, "No, it doesn't quite work like that. He's fine...a little tired, yeah, but somehow, he doesn't have what you had." Sota looked into a nearby mirror, and saw Dark. He nodded, confirming what Sota just said.
Sota nodded, "I figured. As sick as you appeared in the classroom, it doesn't surprise me," He gently rubbed Kairi's hand, "Dark says her, umm...'stole' whatever it was that was making you sick, so you'd make a complete recovery." Dark looked into Kairi's eyes, and smiled.
Sota smiled when he saw her wake up. He moved from the edge of the bed, to where her knees were. He held one of her hands with one of his, and wiped some tears from his face with his free hand, still smiling. "I'll be fine," he managed, "I'm still a little sick, but I'm going to be fine...I'm just glad you're okay." He smiled through the tears.
Sota came into the the ward, and found Kairi sleeping, in pain. With perked up when he saw Sota, and immediately started trying to drag him towards Kairi. "Yeah, I know, With," said Sota. He walked towards her. "Sota, let me out. I can heal her," Dark said. Sota hesitated, but after seeing how bad Kairi was getting, he reluctantly agreed, and let himself transform into Dark. Dark knelt down, and touched his forehead to Kairi's. He closed his eyes. "What are you doing?" asked Sota. He was a little alarmed by Dark's methods. "'Stealing' her sickness. She's got a bad cold that's developing into pneumonia, so I'm taking it away..." After a few moments, Dark sat back, his forehead starting to sweat, "Okay, it's done. She'll be a little tired for awhile, but she's not sick anymore..." Dark transformed back into Sota. "....thanks, Dark," Sota whispered. Dark nodded in Sota's head, then went to sleep. Sota sat at the edge of Kairi's bed, waiting for her to wake up.
The nurse checked Sota's temperature again. It was still a little high (99 degrees F), but he was allowed to leave. Sota was feeling a bit better, but started to leave. As he was leaving the hospital, he took a cab back to school. Soon, he made it back, and tried making his way to the nurse's office, to see if Kairi was still there.
Sota's fever started to drop. The nurse took his temperature, said it was still a little high, but he should recover within the next hour or so.
With's ears drooped as she said that, looking downward. He tried to snuggle closer and curled up into a ball.
With sniffed the salad lightly. He munched a little on a tomato. He smiled at Kairi in response, his face red from the juice.
