Michael went out to the castle balcony. The view of the sunset was nice. He began to play a tune that seemed to echo all ovet the city. As he played, the light from the sun shined in his glasses. He had no idea why he kept them on, since he only needed them for reading.
"Go right ahead Sophia. I made sure the library would be open to all of us. I will just wait here for Kai." Michael pulled out his flute and played some songs on it to pass the time.
"Guess we're done here, lets go back to the castle." Michael said as he strapped his sword to his back.
Michael tried on different suits, not really finding anything that suited him. He finally settled on a black tuxedo. "Never really had time to wear fancy things. It's new to me."
"Sounds good. Guess I'll have to get some formal clothes for this, though. Oh well, it can't be helped. OOC: Since it looks like the girls have logged out, we will have to wait to start on the ball. On that note, I'm logging out myself. See you later!
"Well, the royal ball is going to be held later. That will give us a little time to rest, and get something to eat. Me and Kai have already agreed to be there. Are you and Sophia nterested?" Michael dropped something on the floor. He bent over to pick it up, and his glasses fell off. "Never can keep these damn things on." He said as he put the glasses back on.
Michael put the scroll in his bag, but decided to keep his glasses on. "Come on, let's go Kai." The two left the library, bumping into Cliff and Sophia along the way. "I found the information that we needed."
Michael continued to dig through the archives. He found an unlabled scroll and opened it. Paydirt! This one scroll detailed everything about the black monster. "It says here that the black monster is nothing more than a parasidic demon that possesses people to use as vessels of destruction. It can do nothing without a host, but if the host dies, it attaches itself to a new host. The only way to deal with the monster is to either seal its power within the host using a sealing ritual, or to excise the demon from the body and kill it." He thought to himself, "It would be better to kill it, but there is nothing in this library that details how to remove a demon from another person's body. Our only recourse for now would be to seal it."
They entered the library. "Ok, we need to find some information on the black monster." Michael put on his glasses and began searching through some of the books and scrolls.
Michael kissed Kai. "I love you too, Kai."
Michael walked hand in hand to the castle and entered the throne room. The king walked in. "Master Michael, it has been a long time." The king said. "Indeed it has, Lord Ottmar. Have you been keeping practice with the sword techniques I taught you?" "I have. They have helped me win many battles." King Ottmar said. He then noticed Kai standing next to Michael. "So the lone wolf has found a partner?" He asked. "The wolf died with his village." Michael said "So it's true then, Villgust has fallen." "I'm afraid so. The black monster is the cause of the destruction. Have your men be on guard." Michael said. "But now to the reason why we are here. We need the use of the Royal Library." "Of course, I will tell the scholars to give you full access." The king said. "The royal ball is tonight as well, I would be honored if you two would join me in the festivities." "We would be delighted your majesty. Now if you will excuse us." Michael and Kai left the throne room and headed toward the library.
Michael blushed as he looked at Kai. "Ok, now that we have the shield made, we need to go to the Royal Library, but first we must see the king."
"I'm glad you are alright, Kai. I was worried. See you finished the shield, Cliff. Looks good."
Michael sat down next to Kai. She looked like she was sleeping so peacefully. He smiled and fell asleep. That night, he had a dream. Michael heard a voice speaking to him. "Dragoon, death and destruction surrounds you..." He saw bodies, many torn asunder savegely. "There is no escape from the pain...." The visions continued, radually becoming more horrifiying. "Everything and everyone you hold dear will be lost because you bear the dragoon soul." Michael saw Kai, being attacked by an shadowy figure before his eyes, unable to move, to even speak. He woke up, startled by the nightmare he just had. "No, I won't let this happen. I refuse to give into this nightmare. Never again will I lose anyone. Never! he thought to himself.
The two began working. Michael heated up the sword and melted down the rothium. He hammered the sword out to restore the blade to its original look, then coated it with the melted rothium. Before hardening the sword, he made runic symbols on it, from the language of his people. They read "Zephyr, wind of vengence and justice" "There, I'm finished." He said as he finished shaprening the blade and sheathed it. "Take as much time on the shield as you need, Cliff. I am going to go watch over Kai. I want to be there when she awakens."
"It will have to do for now, until we can find more rothium. We will just have to work with what we have." Michael looked in the barrel where Mathias kept the Rothium. "The old man lied, there's enough left over to temper into a sword as well. Ok Cliff, you get started on the shield, and I will work the rest of the metal in with my sword."
Michael and Cliff entered the smith's shop. "Hey old man, how ya been?" Michael said "For the last time, I have a name, you jerk." The smith said Michael laughed "Been a long time Mathias." "So what are you needing this time?" mathias asked. "Here to cash in on that favor you owe me. You still have that stash of Rothium?" "I do, but I don't have much of it left. Only got enough to make a shield." Mathias said. "Any of it you got will help. Just give it to Cliff here, he knows what to do with it. Need to borrow your shop for a while." Michael handed some coins to Mathias "Go get yourself some ale in the meantime." "Ok, thanks kid. Just remember to lock up when you're done." Mathias left, leaving Cliff and michael to work.
"I have a good feeling who did this to her, and when I see him, I will rip his black heart out and feed it to the wolves. I swear it. For now, though, we must get the Rothium so that this won't happen again."
"Thankfully she wil, Cliff. I was so worried about her. Don't know what I would have done if she died."
They made it to the City of Tredor. Michael made a run for the Clinic. "I have lost too many people dear to me, I won't let anyone else die!"He thought to himself. Michael made it to the clinic and without wasting time, kicked the door in. "Take it easy, son." The doctor said. "No time, doc. She's been badly hurt and needs your help!" Michael said as he laid Kai down on the bed. "Goodness, she is in some rough shape. We have to act fast." The doctor said. Michael watched the doctor work. It felt like time was slowed, Michael worring if Kai was going to make it. The doctor finished up. "She is going to be alright, but will need to rest for a while. If you brought her in any later, she might have not made it." Michael had tears of joy running down his face. "Thans, doc." he said as he paid the doctor for his services. Michael left the clinic to tell the others the news, and to let Kai get her rest.
