Save the dog from the vicious monster that is the blanket?

Blankets are awful, horrific beings. They kill nearly 50,000 animals a year in cold blood. It's why I refuse to treat them with respect.

Kaida looked between Beuce and Stratos and listened to their casual comments and let out a groan, "Dang, you guys get to meet all the cool people. I'm usually stuck in Central Haven listening to all the you're not ready for this job speeches." She was silent for a few second before she continued, "I know I'm not but when you hear it every ten seconds it gets discouraging... anyway." Kaida cracked her knuckles and continued, "That was quite the distraction I was supposed to...."

Kaida's voice trailed off as she looked around and instead questioned, "Where.... did Karina go? Wasn't she just here?" she looked around for a moment before something else clicked, "Wait, what do you mean Yen Sid was turned into stone?!"

Honestly, I don't see a reason to make an entirely new section dedicated to this. While I have always liked the idea of a collaborated story (and know there's a differences between roleplaying and collaborating on a story) this doesn't really seem like a collaborated story idea. This seems like a "choose what you think the fate of the story is" and then once the person finishes the story they hand off the concept of the thread to someone else and the next person tries to write something using that concept.

Regardless whether it's a Collaborated story or Collaborated Concept: It's something that you could do in the Writer's Nook, specifically in the Workshop Area, without adding an entirely new section.

    We added
Workshops & Recreation because there was a high demand for it and people backed up reasons for it to exist. So far it isn't a very active section, so I highly suggest if you like this idea to start it off in the workshop area and see how many people go with it.

(Also personally as a writer, and I know you just used this as an example, I could never guess who a murderer is in just a paragraph each chapter of allowed guessing. And four paragraphs wouldn't feel very satisfying as a full story to guess on.)

Kaida was actually very silent during the situation mainly because she was dumbstruck over the fact she was seeing Master Yen Sid in person. She paid attention when they described the masters of the past and Yen Sid was one of those really big ones they talked about in detail. She didn't aspire to be him or anything, but just seeing him was like seeing a very important historical figure right in front of you: which he was to her. So Kaida just kind of silently gawked as she listened to his answers and did her best not to just collapse.

When he told them where they could leave, Kaida found herself doing the bow of respect her homeworld does[ to leaders, and she replied, almost aggressively, "Thank you for your help." and she made exit faster than she intended. When she got to the portal she jumped through it and was suddenly on the other side.

Once on the other side she say only Beuce was there and she sounded completely in shock as she replied stating the obvious, "Th-that was Master Yen Sid!"

[IMG] Please show up to every meeting.
[IMG] Please respect other people when they share their views and stories. If something is bothering you about it feel free to speak up, but let them finish.
[IMG] Please light a white candle at the end of every session. Whether it be at the meeting or at your choice location.
[IMG] Please let go of possible resentment towards other members as long as you're there, you need each other.
[IMG] Please refrain from using the words, "I give up.' Exclusively in that order and only those three words.

    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you can godmod other people's characters (or characters in their backstory).
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you have superpowers. Sure, you can float around, fly around, walk through walls, haunt people, scare the living crap out of people, and see other people who are dead, but that doesn't mean you can shoot fireballs at people.
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you can write out too graphic or sexual posts. If you're gonna take it too far, spoiler it with warning.
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you can harass other roleplayers.
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you shouldn't ask me questions when you need to.
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you can kill off other characters. In fact it honestly kinda implies you can't... but just in case you think about killing other people's NPCs to be a dick!
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean how you died doesn't stop affecting you. At least not until you find your Closure.
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean you can't have fun!
    • Just because you're dead, doesn't mean rules can't be added or changed in the future.

I didn't necessarily mean spoilers. I meant ideas or theories, because I like playing these games with my mindset without distorting it with fan theories. But sometimes I just can't help myself.

I played this game over vacation with my friend and ended up getting a season pass when I got home, it is gorgeous and I love every second of it. Granted, since I played it through a second time I ended up changing a few things, but I kept the major choices I made. I'm also really digging the soundtrack to this game, I love me some acoustic guitar.

Reading everyone's theories on everything though, especially about Warren, is making me re-evaluate my decisions. Probably should have avoided the thread until all chapters were out but oh well.

Seriously though my mom and dad didn't like talking on the phone and they sent each other letters and when they were just friends my dad sent subtle flirts in letters. My mom thought he was just goofing up his wording.

Ula left City Hall filled with a little bit of pride. Even though she knew she wasn't the best illustrator, Andy was very friendly and encouraging. She walked away with the original intention of heading back to have another meet and greet, but was stopped when she noticed a parade going through. She was certain there had to be some sort of job for her, so after fixing up her hair, Ula skipped on over and spoke to the person who seemed in charge, "Um, excuse me, are you still hiring?"

Ula went to the Main Street Parade for a job.

Dos had a feeling when an explosion was heard, Jackson had worked her magic. After waiting a few minutes more, she made her way to the roof's edge and looked to see no guards following. She jumped down onto an awning and rolled off of it into an alleyway. Her arm hurt like hell, but from the way her bleeding slowed she could tell the other Canna was dealing with it.

When she finished running down the alley, she took a few deep breaths and looked at her arm with the writing on it. She had the vital information her employer required. And now all she had to do was get it to them. When she was almost to the street she heard a guard shouting and she went the other direction.

Canna was still sitting down in the square, she opened up her bag to see the location the employer told her to meet at. She looked at the slip of paper and then closed her eyes to focus more on Dos.

Dos made it to the required street she needed to go and climbed up to the roof. There was a trap door in the roof and she opened it up and jumped down inside. Her employer waited for her with two guards beside him.

The information itself wasn't of importance for her to remember. So she held out her arm and they copied it down. When they were finished, they gave her the reward money and she left. Dos left the roof and hid the money in a spot for Canna to get it, and faded from existence.

Canna opened her eyes, picked up her bag, and ran over to the place she had hidden the money. By the time she had gotten there, she was exhausted and wanted to sit down. She put her money into her bag and casually walked off into the regular streets. She figured she would pay back Jackson the next time she saw her.

I read this particular prompt not 5 minutes after having a long discussion about how out of focus I feel and out of it. I just don't feel like doing anything. I feel as though I should be happier, and I understand why I'm not... but so many good things have happened to me lately that I feel odd not reacting to it. Con coming up? Don't care, cosplay making isn't even fun. Roleplaying? Meh, I'll do it if I have to. Schoolwork? Well senioritis might be catching up but I am fairly certain it has more to do with recent circumstances.

So I decided I would base it off of how I've been feeling lately. How I wish it would go, or how I wish it will turn out. It's not going to deal with the exact same circumstances but I hope I cover the range of emotions well. I hope you enjoy it!

    Little Blue Box

It was another day of nothing. Or at the very it was a day filled with the empty feeling that nothing was going to change and that every piece or part of life had become stagnant. This had been the typical feeling for me then. I was in my same boring room in the same boring house with my same boring attitude. My room was dark, with the windows shut and the black curtains blocking out any possible sunlight. Of course my room was naturally dark anyway and that wasn't changed just to reflect my mood or anything, but I purposefully had the darker curtains there.

I was laying down on the couch in my room. I lived in a house with three other roommates and we each kept to a floor. I was the attic floor. I had plenty of room for a fridge, a living space, anything really. It wasn't as big as the other floors and I still had to leave every now and again to go to the bathroom, but it wasn't really an issue, or I had to leave to go and cook a meal in the oven. I was following a new standard routine. The television across from me showed a black screen, not a black screen indicating it was off, but instead a black screen that showed whenever I shut off my game systems and hadn't turned on the cable. I was staring at a table which held many assorted objects, but notably a calender on a stand.

I reached my hand over and held the calendar loosely between my fingers. It was so poorly secure that I knew it could drop at any second to the floor. Un-moving. Given up because it couldn't do anything on it's own. But it held on, in between my index finger and my thumb, and I skimmed through the month, passing by skipped appointments and missed commitments. When I saw the date it was, I stared numbly for a good long time.

    April 15th.

"Two months..." I whispered to myself in confirmation, and I took better hold of the calender and flipped back two months. It was two months to that date that my boyfriend had left me in one of the worst breakups I could have imagined. This wasn't some high school breakup where it is dramatic for the moment but then you move on. I was 25. This was a different type of breakup. He was the one who initiated the breakup, saying he didn't think it would work out. But the timing was so bad... so suffering to me. And it wasn't because it was the day after Valentine's Day.

I threw the calender and it landed on a chair, but I wouldn't have cared if it landed on the floor. I was in such a terrible mood it could have burnt all I cared. That was when the phone started to ring and I swore to myself. I left it lying there, letting it stop it's ringing. Whoever it was, they were trying to call me. I didn't have the patience for it. I closed my eyes and just listened to the ringtone. It was Pompeii by Bastille, it was probably one of my favorite songs because it was an upbeat song for such an upsetting situation, and every time I heard it I smiled. That was why made it my ringtone in the first place. But I didn't want to smile. I just closed my eyes and disappeared inside my mind, as it slowly became another background noise.

It wasn't that this was the only thing I did. I still had to go to work, I still had to go to some courses I still took despite having graduated. I needed money to pay off rent and loans. But it was just a basic function. My attitude towards work had slowly changed over the week, where I went from a caring smile to a straight face. I remember when Deanna, a close friend and co-worker, finally brought it up a week before.

"Casey... it's been a month, maybe two. I know he meant a lot to you but you need to snap out of this. Come on, Gary's got another gathering tonight for D&D, everyone would love to see you ba-"
"I don't want to talk about this in the work environment." I had cut her off before she could say anything. They responded with an irritated chuckle, "Case, you don't say that. You never say that."
    "I just said it... didn't I?"
Deanna had stared in a curious fascination that changed to sadness before I continued, "Don't use the word never so lightly."

Almost on cue I heard the door open. People never broke into my room. I should have followed my own advice.

I sat up at the noise and looked at the doorway. A roommate, Noah, was there and grumbled, "Look if you're not gonna answer your phone, mute it."
"Maybe if you weren't in the attic it wouldn't bother you."

The roommate crossed the holy boundaries and I went to yell in protest before he walked over to the table and held up his hand to tell me to shut up, then looked at the phone, "Gary is calling you."
    "I don't care."
    "He's called you 23 times."
"Maybe he shouldn't call so often. Maybe I'm in a tunnel or unable to reach the phone right now."

My roommate sighed and placed the phone gingerly onto the table, but somehow managed to knock into the small blue box. It almost fell onto the floor but I caught it in time and held it almost as a mother would hold their child after they were hurt. Noah scoffed and spoke, "Why don't you pawn the damn thing? I know you, you wouldn't dare propose to someone else with the same ring."
"Get out!" I shouted intensely and pointed to the door.
"So it is still your ex that is bothering you... come on. I know how you felt about him but this getting ridiculous."

I rolled onto my back and held the box to my chest and mumbled, "It's not ridiculous. I love him... I-I wanted to spend the whole rest of my life with him. But he didn't want to spend it with me. I really thought we were perfect together.. he never mentioned any problems before..."
    "Then he's a jerk."
    "Don't speak badly about him!"
"Christ Case, look at you! He left you like this and I've seen you date other people and leave better than this. This guy is a jerk. He didn't say I'm not ready for that kind of commitment he said II meant to talk to you about this for a while."
"Maybe he didn't understand... maybe he said it that way because he didn't-"
"Maybe this, maybe that. If I had a dollar for every time you say 'maybe' when it comes to defending him, I'd be rich."

I held back tears, since I was not one to cry in front of people, but I barely managed to squeak out, "Noah, I don't want to talk about this right now."
"That's another thing. You used to always talk. Until recently I had never heard you not want to talk about your problems. Do you think we don't understand you?" Noah's face softened up as he leaned down, "I'm not saying it's a bad thing to feel this way... but you know what Jerk is doing while you're sad and locked up? He's out having fun. You can be upset about this, maybe you will never find a guy like him again, maybe you will. I just don't like seeing you like this, we care about you and we are here for you. Even if you think it's something you have to handle on your own."

Noah gave me a small smile before he left my room. I turned my head towards the table when the phone began to vibrate. It wouldn't stop. And for some reason the time between vibrates seemed to slow. I picked up the phone and stared at the name. It was Gary again. In my right hand was the phone, and in the left hand was the blue box I praised like it was a god's box. I wanted to ignore the call, and I wanted to close my eyes and forget. But Noah's words this time were ringing through my head.

Did I want to cling to a broken commitment. Or ignore those still existing?

When the phone was on it's last vibrate, I don't know what came over me. I felt the box heave back and go flying across the room and my right hand clicked answer.

It wasn't too much longer later, when I found myself in my car and driving to Gary's. When I got to the door I paused for a moment and took a deep breath. I raised my hand to knock, but I couldn't bring myself to. I wanted to run away back to the car and drive back home and hide in my cave again. But I forced myself to knock.

The door opened and there were cheers as I was pulled in. My group of friends surrounding me with smiles and greetings. It got silent for a moment as if they were waiting for me to speak. I didn't really know what to say, but I spoke anyway, "Sorry for being gone these past two months. I'm still recovering but I'm getting there."

I felt someone pat me on the back and respond, "Welcome back."

It almost hurt my mouth to smile, even though it was slight.

She hadn't even woken up fully but she could hear her phone going off like she was suddenly the busiest person in the world. Of course she wasn't and she never could survive if she was, but it certainly felt like it with all the vibrating texts.

She grabbed her phone and read through everything with her eyes half open. There was something from the girl they'd met yesterday about meeting up at a fountain. She'd get to that, but she had a couple things to take care of. And the first thing happened to call her right as she was thinking about calling them.

Lexi answered the phone and held it up to her ear in a very loose grip,
    "This is Lexi."

"Lexi! Hi! How are you doing!?"
"Oh hey Jason, I thought this was your sister's phone..."
"It is, she asked me to call you for her."
"Oh I get it, she's too important to call me herself?"
    "N-no it's not like that!"
"She doesn't want me getting angry at her huh? It's okay, I won't yell at her, tell her to get on the phone."

There was a silent ruffling and what sounded like a quarrel in the background between the two siblings, and then after a bit of time a voice finally whispered silently, "
    Hello?"
"Ooooh Vanessa, I hope you haven't forgotten that you skipped out on me and now I'm in the capital all alone."

There was silence for a bit before she responded with a sore sounding throat,
"Look I'm sorry Lexi, I really am. I know things have been tough with the whole pen-pals-hang-out-together thing. But I didn't skip out on you. My parents are at a meeting out of town, Drum Corps are complicated like that. But I couldn't go in with Jason... you know why I can't."
    "Because he's hyper?"
    "Lexi."
"What? Are you talking about his disability? Gosh 'Nessa it's not like you can just look at the kid and see it. He'd have just as much fun as you."
    "I know I just-"
"Look, why don't you come down with Jason today? We can go out for dinner at this really great place I looked up called Sherzando's. Just make sure to bring a little money because I'm not sure if I can completely pay the tab for all of us."
"Um, I guess I could. But we can't stay overnight."
"Great, safe travels, I'll see you soon!"

"Hello there... Sasha?" she was quiet for a moment and she had a face that screamed I'm working on getting names down and I'm pretty sure I'm right but I hope I didn't screw up.
