You did a pretty good job integrating yourself into the picture. The colors are nice and appealing, even if they don't match up perfectly. You could probably brighten yourself up a TINY bit more (like 5-10% tops), just so you can see your silhouette a little more clearly. It's a shame the tip of the keyblade doesn't shine like the rest of it: it gets a little lost. You might be able to use the dodge tool (assuming you're using Photoshop) to draw in some fake shininess.

As for the text, it's very "in your face", and I think it should take more of a backseat to the image. I would lower the opacity on it a fair amount, and maybe feather the edges. Keep it visible, but without being distracting. They're being presented as scattered thoughts, so that should be represented more in the image. Go subtle. And giving some things higher opacity than others (and perhaps blurring others slightly) could give more visual depth to the image.

I think having two characters makes it too symmetrical, so nothing has a chance to stand out. I would remove one of the characters, and then offset the text to the side. Could make for a more interesting composition. At the very least, I'd make one of the characters less important in the image. Lower their opacity, crop them, something like that. More often than not, asymmetry is your friend. Though you did say you were just messing around, so I understand if you weren't thinking too much about that stuff. But it is always a good idea to keep it in mind.

It's totally cool to play around with different effects and stuff, though as a general rule, I usually think simple text usually looks better. Solid color, maybe with an outline. If the text is hard to read, put a very diffuse drop shadow, to the point where you can't see any distinct shapes. So it basically darkens the area around it slightly, to help it pop.

And it's really tough to make illustrated characters match with a photo background. Try messing around with that fire image. Posterizing it might look tacky, but it could also work. Try experimenting with different effects, or pushing the levels in crazy directions. Don't worry about if it still looks like fire or not. Main thing is to make it look appealing. And if all else fails, a simple gradient or solid background are always good options. Throw in some random lines or brush strokes if it looks bland. Can work wonders.

Keep at it! Even just playing around is great practice. If you're having fun, you're probably learning something.

Thanks for being a big support to me and everyone on staff. Being an adult is hard, and you were balancing a lot of online responsibilities along with it. Totally understand. To be over-dramatic but also sincere, you've done a good service to the site.

I look forward to seeing you around. Maybe we'll discuss trivial things that don't matter in the grand scheme again, someday.

    Cheers!

Figured that 0.2 was originally intended to be a part of KH3. Though it sounds like part of it might still be, which is pretty exciting that there may be more. Maybe this way they can tell most of the story that they wanted to, but without bothering those who only want to play as Sora (which still baffles me, but I digress).

Kingdom Hearts 3D is not a short game. I believe my playtime of the main story was 38 hours first time through. 60, after doing most of the optional stuff. Knowing what you're doing, you could probably casually beat it in about 20-25 hours. For context, my most recent playthrough of Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix was like 18 hours, if you include cutscene time.

Also, consider DDD is a newer game compared to the other games featured in previous collections, there's more that they have to do to port it, and it's being released on a current gen console. Coupled with the fact that there's completely new stuff, the price isn't unreasonable. FFX/X-2 Remastered is $50 on PS4, as is FF Type-0 HD. Both are older than KH3D (one by 11+ years) and feature no new content (aside from FF XV demo with pre-order of Type-0 HD).

That being said, this could just be a placeholder price that they change later. I think $50 would be smarter, but for what's included, they're well within their rights to charge $60.

Super psyched for the expansion. Wondering where the entrance(s) to the DLC will be. Hoping it's the gate of the Great Bridge. Then they can open up that damn shortcut door from Cathedral Ward.

I can totally get behind crazy stupid math like this. I'm just surprised no one in marketing told him "no".

Good to see the high quality version, the colors are MUCH richer. More/updated comparisons below.

Some things to note are the added detail on Riku's shirt (vertical lines on collar, more zipper teeth, etc.) and Sora's gloves. It's also very apparent on Sora that they took care to uprez their character models. See how his shirt sleeve goes from a square shape to a circle, and that his cardboard paws were replaced with actual individual fingers. The same thing has not been done to Riku, but this is an early trailer, and that will probably change. Some background textures are also changed. Note the platform in The World That Never Was, and the skybox in Country of the Musketeers.

The thing I'm most hoping to see improved for DDD HD is
the building where you fight Xemnas. Because the original texture kind of looked like trash. It takes away from the moment somewhat.
And really hoping they do in fact add more content, which seems to have been teased. I wouldn't mind another boss fight, or a few extra cutscenes to help smooth out some of the more unclear parts of the game.

Also, I suspect that the teaser shot we got for -A Fragmentary Passage- is just an animated piece of concept art, with Aqua in front of it. The way the camera moves looks a little strange to me. Not that I think the actual thing won't look beautiful too, but it may not look exactly like that.

Wow. We talked about there being a demo or mini-prequel, but didn't expect it to be BBS Vol 2. Was afraid that would never see the light of day.

I wonder if it was originally going to be the beginning of KH3, but decided to make it standalone. I mean they got a lot of criticism for how long the Roxas prologue was in 2.

And here are some preliminary comparison shots of Dream Drop Distance HD. Some background textures are also changed. Note the the platform in The World That Never Was.

Thanks for the news. Look forward to hearing more about this.

Okay, that definitely adds more weight to it. It's a pretty comprehensive website. Odd that the image for 2.9 is of the leaked/mistake E3 showing. Kind of suggests he knows it's not public information yet. But nonetheless, really interesting.

It seems like the better idea to leave leaked information up, because once it's taken down you've pretty much confirmed it, though companies often do it anyway.

    Thanks for the info

Starting to suspect this isn't real. They only have 2 visible connections, one of which is them, and the other is Tony Garb, who is a real person, but page is not clickable (not sure if that's a privacy setting thing or something else). KH13 cited that they are linked to other legitimate pages, presumably talking about Square Enix and Capcom, on their resume. But you don't actually have to confirm with a company on LinkedIn that you worked there in order for it to show on your resume. Just updated mine as a test, and the changes showed immediately.

I'm not a LinkedIn expert, so maybe there's something I'm overlooking. It's possible that you can set your profile so you can't see your connections (except for maybe your own, and any that were deactivated?). It's a very detailed page of a real person, which looks otherwise totally legitimate. But the fact that this news has been out for a while, and the page hasn't taken the information off makes me skeptical. Either Square doesn't know that the information is out, doesn't care, or has no power to remove it.

Anyone else have any insight on this?
