Roxas: who thought 30 years ago we would be sitting having a good glass of Chateau Lashatire, eh?
Axel: aye, your right there, them days we were glad to have the price of a cup o’tea
Roxas: without milk or sugar
Demyx: or tea
Axel: in a cracked cup
Roxas: oh, we never used to have a cup, we used to have to drink out of a roll of newspaper
Marluxia: the best we could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth
Demyx: but, you know, we were happy then, even if we were poor
Axel: because we were poor, my old dad used to say to me, money doesn’t bring you happiness
Roxas: he was right, I was happier then and I had nothing, we used to live in this tiny, old, tumbled down house with great big holes in the roof
Marluxia: house? You were lucky to have a house, we used to live in 1 room, all 26 of us, no furniture, half the floor was missing, we were all huddled up in 1 corner for fear of falling
Demyx: you were lucky to have a room, we used to have to live in the corridor
Axel: oh, we used to dream of living in a corridor, would have been a palace to us, we used to live in a old watertank on a rubbish tip, we were woken up every morning by having a load of rotten fish dumped all over us
Roxas: well, when I say “houseâ€, it was just a hole in the ground covered with a sheet of tin, but it was a house to us
Marluxia: we got evicted from our hole in the ground, we had to go live in a lake
Demyx: you were lucky to have a lake! There were 150 of us living in a shoebox in the middle of the road
Axel: cardboard box

Axel: you were lucky, we lived 3 months in a rolled up newspaper in a septic tank, we used to get up every morning at 6o’clock to clean the newspaper, go to work down at the mill, 14 hours a day, week in and week out for 6 pence a week and when we got home, our dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt
Marluxia: luxury, we used to have to get out of the lake at 3o’clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot gravel, work 20 hours a day for 2 pence a month, come home and dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle if we were lucky!
Demyx: well of course we had it tough! We used to have to get out of the shoebox in the middle of the night and lick the road clean with our tongues! We had to eat ½ a handful of freezing cold gravel, work 24 hours a day at the mill for 4 pence every 6 years and when we got home, our dad would slash us in two with a breadknife!
Roxas: right … I had to get up in the morning at 10o’clock at night, ½ an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of coal poison, work 29 hours a day down at the mill and pay the mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our dad would kill us and dance on our graves.
Demyx: and you try and tell that to the young people of today, they won’t believe you
