Been waiting to make this thread.
Alright, so BBS is coming out in less than a week. Many KH fans (including me) have been anxiously waiting for this promising addition to the series for more than two years now. Now that it's coming out in Japan, I think quite a few of us would like to stay spoiler-free until its debut in English. Personally, I tend to spoil myself on the new KH games against my own will. I notably failed with 358/2 Days when I vowed only to look at the opening cutscene plus a few gameplay clips and ended up seeing"Xion's Death"
Anyway, I plan to steer clear from KH forums and KH-related stuff on YouTube this time so I can enjoy BBS to the fullest when it comes out. My question is, what's your plan of action? -

Plus, there are unlockable secret characters: Donald, Goofy, Mickey, Xion, Riku, Sora, and Hooded Dual-Wielding Roxas. -
I'm actually pretty glad we finally have a main female protagonist who has guts and doesn't always have to be rescued (Kairi) and can stand up for herself (Naminé). -
It was pretty much confirmed in the Final Mix cutscene where Xigbar chats with Zexion that Xigbar had met VAT during his time as a human. In fact, Nomura confirms that Braig has seen VAT when he was a disciple to Ansem the Wise. However, from the way Xigbar was speaking about VAT, it doesn't seem like he ever fought them - at most, he had conversed with them at one point.
Here's the latest piece of news about Xigbar's role in BBS:

Nomura stated that all three characters (Terra, Aqua, and Ven) are equally important, not one over another.

Lol, slow down mate. First of all, it's Ansem, not Asmas. Let me break it down for you:
There is only one real Ansem: Ansem the Wise. You know, the old guy from KH2?
The Xehanort we saw in KH2 lost his heart, so a Heartless and a Nobody were born. The Heartless (who stole Ansem's name) is the guy we fought in KH1, although we didn't know that at the time. In KH2, we learned that this "Ansem" was actually just the Heartless of Xehanort. The guy we fought at the end of KH2 was Xemnas, the leader of Organization XIII and the Nobody of Xehanort (Xemnas is "Ansem" jumbled up with an "X" added. So yeah, Xehanort's Nobody also stole Ansem the Wise's name, just like Xehanort's Heartless). So now, Xehanort is completely gone. Both his Heartless and Nobody have been defeated. BUT, remember that when you beat both someone's Heartless and Nobody, the original person comes back...
Now, the old guy in BBS is NOT the Xehanort from KH2. The old guy is a completely different character named "Master Xehanort". The reason why they both have the same name will be revealed when we play BBS, so just wait a bit. -
Basically, a bit after the time of BBS, Ansem the Wise had 6 apprentices, Braig, Dilan, Vexen, Aeleus, Ienzo, and a newcomer, Xehanort. Soon, Xehanort and the other apprentices caused some sort of lab accident (from dangerious darkness experiments) that resulted in them losing their hearts, forming their Heartless and Nobodies. Xehanort's Heartless is "Ansem" from KH1. The 6 Nobodies became the first 6 members of the Organization, whose names are anagrams of their original human names with an "X" added (Xehanort took Ansem's name). So the first 6 members are Xemnas, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus, and Zexion. They only collected more members to further aid them in their research and goals. But the members did not necessarily need to be scientists - they just needed to be strong Nobodies that are capable of carrying out the Organization's needs. Get it?
Xigbar (Braig) seems to know a lot about important past events, particularly about what happened during BBS. He also apparently knows Terra, Aqua, and Ven. Remember in KH2, he told Sora before fighting him, "You don't look like half the hero the others were." And in a new cutscene in KH2:FM, he had a conversation with Zexion about Xemnas' past and previous Keyblade wielders. Nomura already confirmed that Xigbar witnessed the events of BBS.
Seriously, read the Secret Ansem Reports from KH2. It should clear up a LOT. -
The game isn't pointless, actually. Though its on a cellphone, Nomura said that the game shouldn't be taken lightly. The whole "forbidden secret" thing is apparently very important to the whole KH story. He also said that Coded isn't another CoM, that you don't just relive the worlds from KH1. Taking place after KH2, Coded's definitely going to set up the events for the eventual KH3. Remember that all three of the handheld KH games "will connect to a new Kingdom Hearts game sooner or later"...

Alright, I don't mean to totally drag you down, but I just want to clarify a few things so that you do better in your future theories:
1.) You don't fight Heartless in BBS - you fight Unbirths. Neither Heartless nor Nobodies existed back then as Xehanort had not created the first purebred Heartless at the time.
2.) I'm pretty sure Maleficent's main goal is the obvious: Take the Seven Princesses to rule all worlds. We also see that she's trying to lure Terra closer into the darkness, kinda like what she did with Riku... As for the Unbirths, they seem to contain too much power for Maleficent to handle, therefore she might not have authority over them.
3.) Possibly your biggest flaw: Ven ISN'T Roxas. Roxas is Sora's Nobody - created right when Sora stabbed himself with the Keyblade. I just need to emphasize that point since Nomura has confirmed it so (albeit indirectly).
On day 354, Xigbar (who obviously has connections to Terra, Aqua, and Ven) sees Xion as Ven before fighting her. I won't completely spoil it, but Xion has a certain connection to Sora, and every person views her differently depending on their connection with her. Roxas and Axel can see her without her hood since they are good friends, other members can only see her hooded, and Xigbar can see her as Ven. This proves that Ven has more of a connection with Sora than with Roxas - Roxas just assumes the appearance of Ven. Here's the video:
