Y button? I thought X was the Freestyle button? Well, in any case, I'm kind of nervous that this will be a button masher, similar to the Reaction Commands in KHII--because that's basically what these things are. Fortunately, we still have the command system from BBS, and that's presumably not going anywhere at all.
FINALLY! I have been waiting for this for SOOO long. And it's pretty much exactly as I expected--one OST for all the songs from the recent handheld games, including BBS Final Mix original songs.
Dude, can you at least mention that this contains spoilers for Re:Coded, especially since it hasn't been released in North America yet and so not all of us have played it?
Alright, let's look back on the series. First, Kingdom Hearts came out. Then it was RE-released in Japan with some nifty features as Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. Then Chain of Memories came out, which basically had you do everything you did in the original but with a different battle system and no exploration/platforming elements (and a few new elements and a few new songs). Chain of Memories itself was remade on the PS2. Kingdom Hearts 2 was mostly original material, and it too was remade as Final Mix+. Then 358/2 Days came out, which again recycled a LOT of material (including layouts, enemies, MUSIC) from Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, although they did manage to keep the gameplay quite fresh. Then Coded came out for cellphones, which once again recycled the first game's content while adding very little to the overall story. BBS was original. Now Re:Coded is coming out, a remake of Coded. And next up is Kingdom Hearts 3D, which once again seems to be almost entirely recycled content. Without taking into account that weird cellphone Kingdom Hearts game that Square-Enix had nothing to do with, how many times is the company going to rehash the same material over and over again with a slightly different packaging and expect us to gobble it up? I mean, for those who have played the original Coded, is there honestly any original music in the game? That itself is one of my biggest complaints. Most of the world and battle themes get annoying when used throughout one game, but when it's spread across the whole series it can become unbearable after eight damn years.
At least the gameplay does change from time to time to help keep things fresh, and in that department it actually doesn't seem like Re:Coded disappoints. Nonetheless, they really should put more originality into the series. This is getting old fast.
How could it contain spoilers? When we all first play the game this will be the first thing that we see. This is the first thing we are MEANT to see. Although, I do know from experience that some movie trailers reveal far more than they should...nonetheless, my original plan was to watch this video when (or rather, IF, since I don't have a PSP) I ultimately play this game. Hmm, tough decision....
How can anyone spoil anything? The game's not out yet, so nobody knows anything! Of course, we can still spoil stuff for the other games in the series, if that's what you meant.
This seems to be common with a lot of the dialogue in the KH series, or at least the stuff shown in trailers. It's all cryptic and doesn't tell us much. Perhaps it all works out in the end once you know everything, but this tactic is just being used ad nauseam, to the point that it's becoming laughable.
Rowdy Rumble and Vim & Vigor FTMFW!! Although, one thing I've noticed is that so far we have not heard a single ORIGINAL song from 358/2 Days. Every song we've heard so far is from KH or KHII (or in most cases, both, AND Chain of Memories as well). Maybe it's because Yoko Shimomura has had her hands full lately doing three KH games, plus Mario & Luigi 3 as well as FF Vs. XIII (and some game(s) I'm probably forgetting, like possibly The 3rd Birthday)?
In any case, my condolences go out to Mr. Allwine's family. He was a great Mickey Mouse.
It's quite possible that "unknown song" is from one of the upcoming three games (most likely 358/2 Days).
Hmm, so that's Yoko Shimomura. I've seen pictures before, but I don't think I've ever seen a video of her or anything. Cool! Now to find videos of Yasunori Mitsuda, Hiroki Kikuta, and Ippo Yamada....
Hmm, I still don't think I can bring myself to play this game. I've played KH, Chain of Memories, and KHII, in that order. This would be like playing Chain of Memories all over again. The story is identical, and the dialogue is very similar as well--both of which I felt were the strongest elements of Chain of Memories. I didn't particularly care for the gameplay, and so I just don't see the reason to play the game all over again.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you said in your LiveJournal. Chain of Memories was itself for the most part just the first KH all over again, and now Re: Chain of Memories is just Chain of Memories all over again...even KHII had some stuff that was just too similar to the first KH (although thankfully it was distinct enough to be considered a completely new game), and both the first and second KH games saw rereleases as Final Mix. Don't forget that Disney also released that cellphone game. Coded seems like, once again, the first KH rebooted. Honestly, how many times do we need to see the same game released over and over again within the scope of just six years? Milked is right!
And I also agree with the struckout descriptions of 358/2 Days and BBS.
So the internet's first look at 358/2 Days also happens to be already translated...neat! This really is the first time any trailer of this game has been posted online, right? The closest thing would be that 2-second silent gameplay clip posted about a year ago.
