Get used to the highlighting and writing, in all my high school English classes (granted, I've been in Honors and now Pre-AP) I have had to extensively annotate my books. Yes, it is a pain, but it proves very useful in writing papers because you know where all the evidence to back your thesis is.
Plus, I think The Giver is great. It shows all the problems that would exist in a society of forced equality (you could say communism, to an extent)... a world with no freedom. It shows the blunt truth: no kind of government or economic system can be pleasing to all or have no cons to it. It's like a watered-down 1984, so middle schoolers can read it, but it's still wonderful and has a great message. There are also probably other books I saw listed here that I'll disagree with hating (I think I saw To Kill A Mockingbird listed? djhfajsdfhajk I LOVED THAT BOOK) but I'm sure the same can be said for mine, so I'll stop rambling. xD
Worst book I have ever read... Hm. It's a tie between The Turn of the Screw and Slaughterhouse Five. I love mystery and horror stories, especially psychological ones but The Turn of the Screw just dragged. D| Slaughterhouse Five was just... I don't know. It was just... creepy. I usually like creepy. But it was such a bizarre, graphic creepy dhfajkdhj OTL
Since my last post, I'm now reading a ton of Eugene O'Neill's plays for a literary criticism paper that I have to write and have just started Long Day's Journey Into Night and it's amazing. C:
I heard a rumor that Zooey Deschanel may be her VA, and while I love her I don't see her voice fitting- it fits in the sense that's it strong and a little deeper (...not... too deep) but otherwise I think she sounds too adult-ish? I dunno. xD
My friends and I watched the secret ending with subs together and my one friend said "...guys... what if Sora... has to die? So Ven can be normal?" and some of my other friends were like PFFFFFF NAH REMEMBER DISNEY'S INVOLVED ONLY THE PARENTS DIE REMEMBER
although It too get that strange... foreboding feeling- I don't see this game being all sugar, puppies and rainbows.
On a lighter... yet a rant-ish note: I was under the impression Riku was not going because Sora said I, not we. Regardless, it still makes me mad that Kairi's still on the islands sitting on her bum instead of participating. I was so mad when she didn't join your party in KH2. XDDD SKR PARTY FOR THE FINAL BOSS BATTLE, Y/Y? -brick'd-
but seriously, Riku and Kairi not going? Some friends Sora has D|
I don't pair Xion... with anyone? XD She's all alone when it comes to my list of pairings, poor girl. (Guy? It?)
but rofl what I'm loving is how people are using her for Sora/Riku or Sora/Roxas subtext when she could easily be interped as Sora/Kairi subtext as well. My friend said this to me one day and it was worded so perfectly I cannot help but reiterate, and part of this was in complete jest- I don't think Xion's as Sue-ish as some do, "Xion is a Mary-Sue. Sues are perfect. Xion is created from Sora's memories of Kairi. So therefore, with the transitive property, Sora thinks Kairi's perfect." XDDDD
What I LOL at is that not only did they intend on sharing ONE bottle of water for the entire trip... did they cook the fish? At all? xD Cause you have to take off all the nasty scales, and then there's the whole eating it raw thing... not that I have anything against sushi but... they're on a raft, it's presumably out in the sun... I smell food poisoning. XDDD
This is probably my favorite scene ever in the series as well- I've spoiled myself on BBS and watched quite a few cutscenes but so far, nothing has topped this. (Despite how awesome TAV are.)
