This is just a story I wrote on a whim after listening to "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt
I caution everyone about to read that this is a very sad fic. Extremely sad.
So, without further ado, here it is:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The warm, inviting, slightly humid summer air was slowly but surely being replaced with the crisp freshness of autumn. The tall green grass was growing shorter with each passing day, fading into the color of field grain. Leaves were also losing their green tint, some only yellow, others pumpkin orange, still more already the deep scarlet of an ibis’ feathers.
Riku gazed at the world, changing with every minute that flew by. Upon looking at his own skin, he was allowed to see himself…the same muscular tones, the same slight tan…he had the same silver hair, the same low-hanging, torn jeans supported by the same studded belt…the same torn, sleeveless shirt…the same blue eyes…
The earth was changing. Time was flowing. And he was being left behind.
School was an absolute nightmare. Even though it was only a few weeks into the year, he was feeling the stabbing loneliness. It was his fault he was antisocial. He’d brought it down on himself, but what else could he have done? He wasn’t…normal…
Each day, he stared across the room at his Aphrodite, his angel, his carved cherub.
But he could never have the love of Sora. In every single class, Riku had to endure the torture of being so close to the one he desired most, but yet being so far away. Why? Hey had always been close friends, but recently…Riku couldn’t bear to even talk to Sora. It was like they lived on separate planes, and neither one could touch the other.
But that day, they collided.
Where had Riku attained the courage to do what he was about to do? Honestly, it was a mystery to even him. But, nonetheless, some part of him had awakened. And today, he wouldn’t waste that precious gift – he was going to confess his love to Sora.
It was an agonizing 4 hours until the start of lunch. Riku hadn’t counted on the lunch lines going fast, so he’d packed a sandwich and an apple. Besides, it meant he could sit down with Sora faster – Sora always packed his own lunch, as he didn’t trust school food.
Riku watched the brunette take a seat, getting comfortable with the bench. And, ever so subtly, Riku scooted closer. And closer. And closer. Almost until the two boys were touching.
“…Sora…â€
The other boy turned to Riku, a bit flustered. “I had hoped you hadn’t gone mute, Riku. Geez, how long’s it been?†The smile woven onto Sora’s face was another form of torture. But Riku had to overcome it.
“Sora…There’s something I want – no, I need to tell you.â€
“Oh! Can you hold on for a sec?†Sora had evidently just noticed something. Getting up, he walked a few feet over to Kairi, the redheaded girl that almost everyone found pretty.
“What’s up, Sora?†she asked. The three knew each other very well.
“Kairi…I…†Sora reached out both his hands and cupped both of Kairi’s within them. “I want to know if you’ll be my girlfriend.â€
The redheads face went the color of her hair. She took in a few deep breaths before throwing herself into his arms. “Yes…â€
Riku overheard everything. There came a sudden feeling in his chest. There was a manic thumping, a shortness of breath, and the worst degree of despair he’d ever felt.
Perhaps this was what it felt like to have your heart broken.
After a few minutes, Sora came back over to Riku, whose face had gone pale, like milk. “What did you need to tell me?â€
But Riku got up, shaking his head. “It’s…it’s nothing.†He turned and left, knowing his legs would give out at any second. ‘Don’t let him see you cry, Riku…Don’t let him see you cry…’
He avoided everyone he could for the rest of the day, and didn’t go home when the final bell rang. Instead, he took a sketchbook and a pencil and ventured up to the cliffs. It was a serene place where one could go to the edge, look out, and see the shining blue waters of the ocean mingle. There was nothing between you and the horizon on the cliffs.
Sitting down, Riku opened his sketchbook and began tracing lines. He drew the golden leaves upon the sycamore trees, and the trees themselves, with twisting branches and dark brown bark. He drew the grass in the middle of transformation from green to goldenrod. He drew the cliff’s edge, the stretching ocean, and the afternoon sun beginning to slowly sink below the horizon line.
And when he was done drawing the backdrop, he began drawing the scene. It took him the better portion of three hours to complete.
When he was done, he set the book and pencil down underneath a sycamore and looked out on the water. It was azure now, a bit darker than the color of his own eyes. The waves had long since stopped rolling – it was low tide.
Riku walked out to the edge and took a deep breath. There was a hint of mint in the air.
He exhaled and closed his eyes.
He threw himself off the cliff.
* * * * *
It wasn’t until the next day that someone found Riku’s body, floating lazily near the beach. His eyes were wide open with the expression of longing and depression frozen in his mouth, his hair, and his eyes.
His family – his mother only, since his father had run off a long time ago – and Sora and Kairi were the first to be notified. All three shared a long, hard cry when the news was initially broken to them.
The police notified them that the only place he could’ve killed himself would be the cliffs, since there was nothing around him in the water to suggest a different method of suicide. So they went up to the top, to the sycamore tree grove where Riku would often spend summer days with them.
His old sketchbook was lying open on the grass underneath his favorite tree. It was open to the last page Riku had drawn on. Sora went up to it, bent down, and grasped it in his quaking fingers. Bringing it up to eye level, he attempted to stop his fingers from their shaking, so he could get a clear view of what had been sketched.
When he did, he let out a small shriek and dropped the book.
Kairi and Riku’s mother came running up to him, screaming at him about what the problem was. But the brunette could only point and stare at the sketchbook. Kairi bent down and picked it up, holding it so all three could see it.
It was a late summer scene, with everything transitioning to gold. Riku and Sora were on the page, holding hands. They kissed in front of the setting sun, in a gale of leaves swirling around them.
And – to Sora, at least – it was all too clear why Riku was dead.
The thought of it weighed heavily on Sora’s mind. Over the next three days, he was silent. Instead of his happy demeanor, he now carried an atmosphere on dejection on his back. Every single test given during that time he failed miserably – in fact, he never put a single answer down. His pencil didn’t move.
The day of Riku’s funeral, it took Sora an hour to put on his black mourner’s outfit. He increased the feeling – and reality – of loss by applying dark mascara on his eyes.
One could look at Sora now, and mistake him for a walking corpse. His face was gaunt, his eyes drooping from lack of sleep.
To make a ceremony drearier would’ve been quite a feat. No one wanted to talk, and everyone was sobbing. The pews were almost full of people – relatives, neighbors, friends…Everyone who knew Riku was there.
“He had such an impact on peoples’ lives. He touched everyone in the spot where it matters most – the heart. Truly, I cannot say I’ve met someone who knew Riku and spoke badly about him. He was kind, caring, giving…†Roxas, who looked terrible as well – he was one of Riku’s best friends, after all, so the news was devastating to him – reflected. Suddenly, he began to choke, wet tears streaming down his rosy cheeks. After a few attempts to continue, he shook his head and walked down from the podium; he couldn’t speak anymore.
It was around this point that Kairi noticed Sora shaking uncontrollably in his seat. A few moments later, he got to his feet in a wail, tearing out into the aisle. He ran down the aisle towards the door, throwing it open and going through in a dead sprint.
Kairi had to put a hand in front of her face to keep herself from sobbing too much. It was so downright painful…
The pastor got up to deliver another message to the mourners. He had just begun to open his mouth…
A small little “boom!†could be heard in the distance. Immediately, the parishioners began screaming, jumping out of their seats and running around. Chaos had broken loose inside the church – even Kairi and Riku’s mother joined in the anarchy.
Everyone swarmed out of the room of worship. It was a gigantic mass of black swirling out of the doors, going down each and every hall.
The church was enormous, and one could easily get lost inside. Kairi and Riku’s mother got separated in the pandemonium, and the redhead decided she had to fend for herself. Some halls she was forced down, but others she chose herself.
There was a particular passage that she was going down – everyone ran down it, screaming their lungs out. But Kairi stopped, having noticed something that no one else did in the panic: a door was slightly ajar. She went up to the old Victorian wood and, taking a deep breath, pushed it open.
Her gasp was like the squeak of a mouse. There was a single window that let a pale, eerie blue light into the room, in a transparent stream. Kairi put a hand over her mouth, rushing into the room.
Sora lay slumped against the wall. A revolver lay not a foot away from his right arm, smoke still barely coming out of the barrel. There was a hole in his chest, right on his heart, and his Sunday’s best was already heavily stained with blood.
Now the tears started. She looked at his face…his beautiful face, so marred by death…
Something above his hair caught her eyes. Through the wetness she could see that he’d quickly carved something into the wall.
‘If I can’t have him here, then he can have me there.’
Wow! That was a long chapter, but well worth it! Tings are starting to make sense now yay!
-
Nice chapter! And Marluxia is SO a dude XD
I don't care who finds him (it'll probably be XIgbar and Zexy), but I think Sephiroth needs to be doing something extremely feminine...like riding the merry-go-round and enjoying it. *shudders* -
I would personally like to Sephiroth as a Nobody. Don't ask me why. It would just be cool to see him dish out even more ownage to Cloud.
-
Since I read the sticky about FF topics, I guess I'll be moving all the Figments chapters here.
~~Chapter 2~~
~~Lumiara~~
Zexion flipped a few pages through his book, and began to read, eyes intently scouring the text. After a minute, he began to laugh. Marluxia became quite scared. "Wh-wha-what are you gonna do to me?"
Zexion looked up. A blank stare came over his face. "Oh. I completely forgot about you. I was busy reading my book. Don't you think Hemmingway comes up with the best novels when he's sober?
"Well, now I remember. I am going to torture you."
"Why the hell are you going to do that?!"
"Remember about a month ago? After you slipped me a little booze? I sure do."
Marluxia thought about it.
~~~One Month Ago~~~
"Mmfph!" Zexion cried as he was pushed down yet another flight of stairs. He struggled desperately to rip off the duct tape that bound his arms and legs together; there was another one on his mouth. He would've succeeded, too, but Marluxia had given him enough booze to persuade him to put on a cheerleader outfit; the pom-poms made it impossible.
Marluxia nonchalantly strolled down the stairs with a psychotic grin on his face; Larxene, Axel, and Xigbar were bawling at the top of the staircase. Larxene had to try and stop herself by putting her hand over her mouth; it wasn't working. Axel was laughing so hard that tears were falling from his eyes; and Xigbar was the worst. He was pounding on the floor, while trying to grab onto his laser guns. It was...um...quite a sight to see.
To make things worse, Marluxia had a camera. He snapped a few shots before throwing it to Axel, who just barely caught it in the midst of laughing. "Yo, Fireman, make sure you put that in MY room. I am so uploading that as the background for the main computer!
"Oh, yes, there's one more thing: Demyx! Come here! There's something I want you to see!"
Zexion's eyes grew small, and his face got extremely red.
~~~~~~
Marluxia burst out laughing at the memory. "Oh, geez!...I didn't know you still remembered that!"
Zexion barked out, "Sh-shut up! Do you have no respect?!" He opened his book to about halfway, then muttered: "By the book I have, by my immense power; do me a favor, and shut the trap of that flower!"
Marluxia's laughing subsided; he tried to yell at Zexion, but no words came out. "Much better. Now, before you ask, yes: I am doing this for revenge. No one does that to me and gets away unscathed. You're going to burn, Flower Power!!" He extended a finger in his adversary's direction, breathing heavily.
Taking a deep breath, Zexion walked up to Marluxia. He punched right through him, and pulled out a black material. Zexion threw it to the floor. In seconds, it had transformed into a complete mirror image of Marluxia; the only difference was it had no color in it, only black darkness. It ran off.
The ice shards then melted, and Marluxia dropped to the floor, panting. Zexion waved a hand. "Dispel."
"What the hell was that?!" Mrluxia demanded.
With a poker-face stare, Zexion answered his burning question. "That was your shadow. It is exactly like you. It knows your weaknesses and strengths. Your shadow's name is Lumiara; your name before you came here."
At that instant, hundreds of memories flooded Marluxia's brain; he clutched his head, moaning.
"What are you waiting for, Marly? If you let Lumiara ran wild, he's bound to destroy everything in existance. Such is the way of shadows." He disappeared.
"Damn it," Marluxia uttered as he fled the room.
~~~~~~
Marluxia spotted Lumiara turn down a hall, and he went into hot pursuit; when he rounded the corner, Xigbar stood in the middle of the hall.
"Xigbar! Did you see a shadow flee down this hallway?!"
Xigbar just laughed his normal laugh, then summoned his two laser guns. Without hesitating, he shot Marluxia's knee; Flower Power crumbled to the floor, screaming in pain. He pounded the floor, and looked up; Lumiara was running down the hall. Xigbar was nowhere to be seen.
In major pain, Marluxia managed to get up and run after his shadow; all the while, his eyes were large and all anime-style. His hands clutched his head, digging into the skin. "What the hell is happening to me?!"
Lumiara quickly created a shadow warp, and went into it. Growling, Marluxia followed. He dove into the abyss of shadows.

~~Chapter 3~~
~~Dolur~~
After coming out of the dark corridor, Marluxia found himself in the World That Never Was. The Castle That Never Was loomed over him like a monstrous bully, leaning in ever so close. The feeling gave Marluxia the chills, not just the wind. He shivered as he backed up onto a flowerbed. Screaming, he picked up the one that was bent. He quickly reshaped it, and then examined it further. "Hmm...It's a daffodil." As he said that, a memory came sweeping into his mind. In a moment, he was flushed back to when he was a grade-school student at Hollow Bastion.
~~~Hollow Bastion Elementary~~~
Rambunctious kids ran around the playground. Every so often, they would trample a rhododendron plant, or a delicate rose. Lumiara would then swoop in to clean them up, fix them, make them right as rain. And after each time, someone would sock him in the cheek for it, yelling things about gayness and sissies.
Marluxia watched as a 4th grade girl carelessly bounced on a sunflower, then bounded off as she remembered she had forgotten her lipstick in class. Marluxia rushed over to it, faster than his younger counterpart, and tried to repair it; his hand went straight through it. Instead, the memory played as it should have.
A 5th grade boy then punched Lumiara in the head, sending him sprawling into the woodchips. One got lodged below his right shoulder. Trying his best not to cry, he removed it.
~~~TWTNW~~~
Marluxia sighed. "Did my life suck that bad back then?" He pulled up his right sleeve; the mark of the woodchip was still there. Time hadn't been able to erase the jagged scar. Just then, Marluxia noticed Lumiara (the shadow) waving at him from the castle's entrance. Marluxia growled and ran after him into it.
Flight of stairs after flight of stairs, Marluxia hustled to keep up with his shadow. He rounded a corner and caem into the room where Sora had once fought Xigbar. Instead of #2 on the high platform, Marluxia saw Luxord.
"Luxord!" he called out. "Can he hear me?!"
Luxord only smirked. "Of course I can hear you. I am not deaf. But...do not call me Luxord. Rather, address me as Dolur. My former name."
Marluxia grunted. "What's that supposed to mean, Luxo...Dolur?!"
"Don't you recognize me?"
"Of course I do! You're Luxord!"
Dolur laughed. "You're so naive." He took a deck of cards out. Nonchalantly, he drew five of them out. "Try to get me." He threw a card down to Marluxia. He caught it swiftly. Immediately, he turned into a die. "Crap..."
Cackling, Dolur jumped down and did a frontflip in front of the small plaything. He kicked it around, all the while Marluxia screaming at the top of his lungs. He smashed into a wall before he was able to get out of the form. Dolur squeaked as Marluxia summoned his scythe.
He teleported behind Dolur and struck. His enemy fell to the ground, but threw a card which sliced part of Marluxia's good arm. While he writhed, holding his arm, Dolur made his cards humongous, and they encircled Marluxia. A fake Dolur appeared, and Marluxia had no trouble fighting him off. "Take this!" he screeched as his weapon dug into the fake's skin.
The cards fell and Marluxia took a big swipe at the real Dolur. Blood went flying as he fell back. As he hit the floor, spiky cards started flying at Marluxia. With a quick move, he blocked the first few with his scythe, but got tired; he was bombarded with sharp objects. He yelled out in agony as he collapsed to the floor. Blood flowed by his person.
Dolur appeared above him, his cards aligned into a dagger. "Time to say goodbye." He thrust his arm down, but failed when Marluxia kicked his legs out from beneath him. Marluxia caught the dagger and, without knowing what he was doing, threw it at Dolur. It lodged into his head. With a gasp of surprise, he fell to the floor and disappeared.
"Heh. Not bad for the first fight, Flower Power. I'm half-impressed."
Marluxia looked up to the balcony and saw Zexion. He had a slight sneer. "You got beat up inthe process, but kudos to you; you beat an illusion." When he saw Marly's look of surprise, he expounded on the topic.
"Lumiara is no longer in the World That Never Was; in fact, he got out a long time ago. I helped. You were merely fighting an illusion of Luxord I created; with one exception: He was tougher. And, he had emotion. If you noticed, his gasp of surprise was emotion; if he was a real Nobody, that wouldn't have happened.
"And, since you no longer have Lumiara inside of you, you too have emotion now, Marly. I imagine you felt fear and desperation. Those are human emotions. Without your shadow, you can feel those now.
"Well, since you also beat someone, I might as well give you a little flashback."
He waved a hand in front of his face.
~~~Castle Oblivion Game Room~~~
The latest episode of Family Guy was playing. An adult Stewie ran into an older Lois's arms. The normal Stewie was very pissed. "What?! She's still alive?! What the hell, man?!"
Marluxia and Lexaeus burst out laughing. "Oh, man. This show always makes me laugh!"
~~~~~~
Zexion had a blank look on his face. "Oops. Wrong flashback."
~~~Lumiara's Room~~~
Lumiara cried at the foot of his bed. Scratches littered his frail body. He was quivering, shaking uncontrollably. "Why...? What did I do to deserve that..?"
~~~Castle That Never Was~~~
Before anything more happened, the memory faded into darkness.
"What was that about?!" Marluxia shrieked. Zexion chuckled. "Do you want to find out? If you do, then you must go through here."
A corridor of darkness appeared in front of Marluxia. Without hesitation, he crawled in and disappeared.
~~~End of Chapter 3~~~
~~Chapter 4~~
~~Arlene~~
There was a rushing sensation as Marluxia crawled into the Corridor of Darkness. The last thing he saw before total darkness was Zexion's smirk, with flashing eyes. His hair rustled as a blow of nothing, maybe some remnant of the memory of wind, swept across the realm. It had a kind of soothing scent, somewhere between peppermint and mint ice cream. Or the sea salt kind. Marluxia began to feel sleepy, and murmured as a yawn escaped his mouth. He fell to the "ground," and was fast asleep in moments.
~~~Hollow Bastion Elementary; greenhouse~~~
The sun shone warm through the glass ceiling and walls of the Hollow Bastion Elementary School's campus greenhouse. A variety of flowers, from aspens to zephyranths, lined the wood platforms, which reached from one side to the other.
Lumiara whistled as he tended to their individual needs, from water to ladybugs or growth formula; at least, that was the formal name for them, although Lumiara enjoyed calling them "plant steroids." He was on the "p" row, and had just finished pouring a few ounces of water into the pot of a yellow petunia. He stopped to gaze back at the pansies, and noticed that one was limping.
With a shriek, a mix between surprise and utter horror, he leaped over to it; his hand touched the pot. As his eyes widened, he stopped in his tracks. "What the- Why is this so..." He looked at the rest of the greenhouse; it had caught fire. "Hot?"
He dove to his side as a fireball flew across the middle, scorching all the flowers in its path. There was a hiss as it burnt a hole in the glass; it dissipated a few meters afterward. But the whole fire was still going on. The flames licked at Lumiara's face.
As if it wasn't already demented enough, the flames formed a face in the air, with spiky hair and markings below the eyes. It laughed, and actual sound came from it. Lumiara was scared to death.
Now that Marluxia had time to reexamine the memory, he noticed the face was Axel's. With a laugh, he said, "Now I guess I know why I don't like him all too much." He continued to watch the memory unfold, to notice other oddities.
In a second, the whole greenhouse was engulfed in flames. Lumiara was burnt on his face, arm, and one on his knee. With a screech, he used a last minute plethora of strength to leap out a broken window as an inferno shot straight up in the air.
When he regained himself, he saw that he still held the pot of pansies; all but one were destroyed. With a smile, he plucked it out, and stuck i in his pocket. Later, he decided, he would put it in a glass of water. Nothing was more fitting for the flower that had saved his life.
~~~100 Acre Wood~~~
Marluxia groaned. He was tired, and had a bit of a rude awakening in the memory. He looked up for the sun, but instead saw a face. "Hello there."
"Ahhhh!" Marluxia shrieked as he crawled backwards. His eyes were wide, and he was shivering. An orange, bear-like thing stood in front of him, wearing a red t-shirt. "Who're you?" they both asked the same time. Marluxia, however, answered first. "Name's Marluxia...I, uh, don't really know why I'm..." His sentence trailed off when he saw the bear drowning itself in honey.
After a minute, it had satisfied itself. "Hello. I'm Winnie the Pooh. You can call me Pooh, though."
"Oh...hello, there Pooh."
"Well, Mar-mar, could you help me with something?"
Marluxia sighed. "What is it?" he asked in his friendliest voice.
"I'm searching for my friends. Could you help me find them?"
Marluxia became slightly intrigued. "Well, who are your friends?"
Pooh scratched his head. "Well...There's Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore...Oh! Kanga's looking for Roo!...Oh, yes. And I lost my favorite bowl of honey."
With a grin, Marluxia said, "Of course! You go one way, I'll go another!" Pooh nodded, and waddled off. Marluxia jumped up, and ran the other direction. "Whew! I'm finally away from him! I can get away from here!...Whereer here is!" He went through a few bushes, stumbled over a pyramid of cabbage, and found himself in a clearing. Across the way stood Larxene, turned the other way.
Not even knowing what he was doing at first, Marluxia was staring at her, chuckling. He was the luckiest man alive to be engaged to her. He waltzed up to her. and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey, Larxy."
She turned around, and noticed him. "Hey, Marly! What're you doing here?"
Marluxia giggled. "I was about to ask you the same thing."
"Well, it started after you left. I was watching Law and Order, and then-" There was a loud bang in the distance. Both stopped breathing. Larxene had a look of fear in her eyes. "Wh-what was that?!"
"I dunno! Uh...continue with what you were telling me! Quickly!"
"I decided t-t-to go af-after you, but ran into Lexaus. He started talking trashy to me and-"
"Hold on," Marluxia said. "Were you...scared just now?"
Larxene nodded. "Weren't you?!"
Marluxia nodded briefly. "Yes, but you're a Nobody...you shouldn't have emotion...that means....AARRRGGH!" He was electricuted and sent flying back; he recoiled quickly, and saw Larxene smiling at him, her kunai out. "I would've thought you wouldn't guess...but I underestimated you. Yes, I'm one of Zexion's illusions: Arlene! Now, it's time for ou to die!"
Marluxia only had a few seconds to react as she cast more lightning; he made the correct choice by summoning his scythe and deflecting it. Unfortunately for him, it hit Arlene, letting her recover. She moved even faster now, and was by Marluxia in the blink of an eye. She licked his cheek before trying to smash it in.
Marluxia ducked down and tried to kick her legs out like he had done with Dolur; but Arlene was smarter. She jumped up, and threw a kunai at Marluxia's defenseless body; she missed his head, but her weapon made contact with his shoulderblade. He screamed, and wildly thrashed about; he hit Arlene in the nose, and she doubled back, growling.
Vines sprouted up from the ground and encircled her; instantly, they shot out and tied her up. Even though her arms were restrained, she laughed. "Ha! You think that can stop me?!" She bit down on a plant, and lightning surged through it; she then noticed Marluxia, sneering. "Why, yes. I think it can." The lightning stopped, and turned green; it started back at Arelene, who gulped.
The immediate explosion caused Arlene to dissolve. Marluxia just stood as it sent a chockwave through the grass.
"Heh. 2 for 2, Flower Power. I thought you wouldn't want to fight Arlene, but I was wrong." Where Arlene had stood, Zexion now stood. His eyes were closed, and he was grinning. "You're better than I thought."
"SHUT UP!" Marluxia yelled. He slashed Zexion with his scythe, but he faded. "Damn...an illusion. Another illusion."
Out of the corner of his eye, Marluxia spotted the shadow Lumiara duck into a Corridor of Darkness. Marluxia raced after him, and dove in as it disappeared.
Zexion came out from under a tree. As he let his image be swept away by the wind, he said: "Heh...the further you go, Marluxia, you the more you put yourself in danger. Know that now."
~~End of Chapter 4~~
~~Chapter 5~~
~~Sai~~
The wind swept Marluxia's hair to the left. The refreshing smell of it, and the occasional taste of sea salt spraying up onto the air and into Marluxia's mouth, was enough for it to be labeled a paradise. The sun shone down on him, a warm beacon and a smiling entity of pure joy. A smile crept across Marluxia's lips; everything was serene as could be; even the joyous cries of children away carried on the wind. Marluxia took a whiff of it, finding it all a bit difficult to take in after being in Castle Oblivion for so long. Beautiful red roses danced, twirled, and leaped a few yards away. The picturesque scene was, to Marluxia, heavenly.
"Whoa! Look out!"
Marluxia turned around just in time to see a big red ball flying into his face. It bounced off as he fell to the sand. He got up rubbing his nose, which now had a bump on it. A boy wearing an open jacket ran up to get it. He beamed up at Marluxia, more like grinned actually...
"Hey, are you alright?!"
Marluxia scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, I guess..."
The boy took a minute to examine him. His sandy-bown hair wove in the wind. "Hmmm..." He quickly jumped around. "Hey! Wakka! Selphie! Riku! Kairi! Sora! C'mere, there's a new guy!"
A cold chill ran down Marluxia's back. Sora was here?! It couldn't be possible...could it?
But Sora came running towards the boy with 4 others. Marluxia stepped back. Coincidentally, Sora stopped at the same time, his eyes fixed on the Nobody standing in front of him. After a moment, he leapt at him, Keyblade out.
Marluxia had to quickly summon his scythe and hop backwards. He jammed the blunt end of it into the ground and jumped onto it with only his hands holding it. He twirled around the handle, trying to kick Sora away from him; both missed. Sora landed with a scowl, and Marluxia touched ground with an expression between shocked and angry.
"Uh...Sora...do you know him?"
Sora nodded, then shook his head. "I think I do...but the memories are so blurry."
Marluxia got his poker-face on. "Does the name Marluxia ring a bell?"
A nonexistent wind swept through Sora; at once, his light anger turned to pure fury. "Take this, you...you...
"FREAK!"
He took a lunge at Marluxia, who punched him in the gut; Sora lost his breath, and his Keyblade slid to the sand. Saliva dripped from his mouth as he fell alongside it. Riku hurried up to him; he put a hand on Sora's back, then shot a glance at Marluxia. "Zexion told me about you! I thought you were destroyed!"
Marluxia chuckled. "Funny thing is...none of us are gone."
"What?!"
"And, I have something against Zexy. If Sora would get up, we can do something about it."
Upon hearing Marluxia, Sora hurriedly got to his feet. "C'mon, then! As long as you'll go later!"
Marluxia nodded. "When we're done with Zexion. Come."
The two started off, but Riku ran with them. Marluxia held out his scythe towards him. "Only Sora and I. You stay here in case he comes here." Reluctantly, Riku stayed put after that.
~~~~~~
As the two got up the last few rock flights, they saw Saix standing, looking toward the sunset. He turned around as Marluxia ascended. "Welcome, 11."
"I would say the same to you, 7, but I know by now that that isn't you."
A smirk appeared on Saix's face. "What do you mean?" Sora asked.
"To make it simple...that's an illusion made by Zexion."
Saix began to laugh wildly. "How right you are! We can skip the explanations! I am Sai; now, prepare to die!"
He got out his claymore, while Marluxia and Sora got out their weapons. "Ha...Come prepared, have you? Fine, I like it better that way.†Without hesitating or waiting for some kind of dramatic battle music, he charged. The sharp points on his claymore grazed Marluxia’s cloak. He twirled away, and jumped at Sai.
Sai, having a bit of precognition, was well able to dodge the oncoming assault; even the follow-up by Sora was simple to evade. Marluxia had to react insanely fast to parry the incoming Keyblade. At that point, Sai’s very along-the-lines strategy was revealed to Marluxia.
He wanted the two to fight each other since he didn’t have the power of moonlight on his side.
Once he had realized this, Marluxia knew how to go at his opponent. “Sora…Attack me!†Sora stopped; had Marluxia just said what he thought he just said? Sai silently laughed. That idiot just sealed his fate. But he wasn’t paying any attention to the fight.
In an instant, Marluxia had jumped over Sora, and had slashed at Sai’s chest; it made contact. Warm blood dropped from the wound, and Sai was caught off-guard. “What the hell?!†On a whim, he used the bottom of his claymore to try and impale Marluxia.
Marluxia dropped to the ground, trying to avoid it; but Sai thought fast. He changed direction, and Marluxia had to clap his hands together, dropping his scythe, to stop the attack. For a minute, the two struggled with the weapon, until Marluxia pulled it out of Sai’s hands.
He used the top to smash Sai’s face. He flew near the edge, but not off. He leapt back up, only to see the bottom of his own claymore sticking through his chest. His eyes went misty, and he disappeared along with the claymore.
Marluxia went over and picked up his scythe. “Thank you, Sora, for revealing his strategy to me. I cannot-“
“You can’t what, Marly?â€
Zexion sat upon a paupu fruit tree, arms crossed, a grin emblazoned on his face. His eyebrows twitched. “So, you’ve beaten three of them. I must say, I didn’t expect you to see Sai’s plan; but you got lucky, and got Sora to come with you.â€
“Who are you?!†Sora yelled out.
Zexion just chuckled. A Corridor of Darkness rose behind Marluxia. “Go in, Marly; and see what awaits on the other side.†Sora began in. “Stop, young Keyblade Bearer!†Sora halted. “Only Marluxia can go; you belong here.†And with that, Zexion disappeared, and the Corridor of Darkness began to disperse. Marluxia smiled at Sora. “Until next time…†Then, he dove into the Corridor of Darkness as it, too, disappeared.

~~Medy~~
As Marluxia came out of the Corridor of Darkness, his instincts told him to hold his breath; lucky thing he trusted them, because he had ended up in Atlantica. It wouldn't be long before he ran out of breath, so he did the only thing he could.
"Poof!"
Smoke swirled up from the ocean floor; Marluxia had transformed himself into a Merman. Chuckling, he thought to himself, 'So, where's Zexy's newest illusion?' He decided to investigate, and swam off. He found it quite easy with his new appearance.
Water lapped on him, over him, and through him as he continued down the sea floor. Not even paying attention at one point, he swam straight into a school of fish.
"Alright, class. The quadratic formula has to do with the blujeebles of mathematic blah-blah-blahs. To do this equation, you need to square the mimimimimimimi, then subtract the oompa. Next, we must- AAUUUUGGHHHHHH!" the teacher screamed out as Marluxia came crashing through the "classroom." The students scattered, glad that something had interrupted their class; better than listening to their teacher ramble on about math stuff all day long.
Marluxia passed on by, and absent-mindedly swam into a cave. A boulder was laying by the entrance, and Marluxia went in without really noticing it. Inside, he saw another Merman floating, his back to him. A blond mullet flowed down his neck. Instantly recognizing him, Marluxia said, "Demyx...please let it be you."
Chuckling, Demyx turned around. "Haven't you learned by now that I'm one of Zexion's illusions?"
Marluxia summoned his scythe. "I can always hold onto hope."
Demyx's sitar appeared in his hands. "Then I shall make that hope crumble." He immediately started playing a few rifts on his weapon. The sheer sound made Marluxia have to cover his ears to block out the sound.
After that, he felt something jam into his gut; it was the sitar. Demyx had stopped playing when Marluxia had covered his ears...and left himself wide open. Marly crumbled to the ground. Demyx laughed. "Oh...I still haven't properly introduced myself wait!"
Marluxia groaned. This Demyx was more annoying than the real one. "My name is Medy. Got it memorized?"
Chuckling, Marluxia struggled up. "Hey...that's Axel's line..."
Medy growled, and smashed Marluxia into the rocks using his sitar. "See if I really care." He stepped up to Marluxia. "I don't care if I'm using someone else's line. It all means the same. Like your death to me!" He jammed the sharp end of his sitar into Marluxia's back. He screeched as blood began to ooze out of his wound. To him, the floor began to melt away. He fell through.
Marluxia was falling through an endless black oblivion. Voices began to swirl all around him.
"Gay!"
"Flower freak!"
"Weak little flower dependant weirdo!"
And perhaps the most insulting of all: Xemnas's voice rang out. "As much as I don't want to, welcome to the Organization. You're the only one who has different powers, even if you can't fight to save your life."
"Xemnas...why you little..." Marluxia's hands began to curl into fists. "You...
"AAARRRGGHHH!" He shot up, both arms outstretched. There was a smashing noise, then a grunt.
Marluxia blinked, and saw Medy up against a wall, huffing. He slid down it, but quickly got back to his feet. A look of bewilderment was on his face. "How...?!" His opponent just smirked. "Don't ask me...even I don't know."
"But…you were dead...You were disappearing!"
"Not anymore."
Marluxia came at Medy with his scythe, and slashed at his chest; Medy parried with his sitar, then tried to punch him; Marluxia caught the fist with his own hand, and pushed it back. There was a crack as his wrist broke.
Screaming, Medy reeled back clutching his hand, eyes wider than dishes. His pain soon turned into boiling anger, and he grabbed his sitar with his unbroken hand. With a look of pure resentment on his face, he swung it full-force at Marluxia; and it made contact with his cheek.
He flew to the side, and rolled on the water. All the while, he managed to keep hold of his scythe, and when Medy came charging up, he used it to his advantage. As Medy came upon him, he made a wild swing.
"Urk!"
Medy's eyes were wide as he stumbled back. Blood gushed from his chest. His teeth gritted as he stared at Marluxia. “How…?â€
Marluxia grinned. “Luck’s on my side. Not on yours, though.â€
But Medy just began to giggle. “You know so little.†He took his sitar back up, and began to play on it faster than before. His wounds started to heal. The cuts were erased from his body, and the blood was sucked back in.
“Time for round two.â€
He jumped over to Marluxia, and kicked him in the gut. Flower Power stumbled back, but recovered in time to block Medy’s oncoming assault. Scythe and sitar clashed together, sparks flying from the impact; both enemies growled, clearly despising the other. Medy was the first to leap back; this was to his disadvantage.
As he soared through the water, Marluxia speedily calculated where he would land and swam over there with much more agility than he thought he had. When Medy came down, he was slashed into two parts. Grimacing, he willed his hand to play the sitar that was crashing into the sand. As it happened, Medy came back together, seemingly unharmed.
“This is getting rather annoying,†Marluxia muttered.
“I whole-heartedly agree.â€
“Please…you don’t have a heart.†He lunged at Medy, but instead of slicing him into sashimi again, he kicked off of his chest.
“What?!†Medy yelled out as he watched the scene unfold before his helpless eyes. Marluxia did the only sensible thing, and smashed the sitar into pieces. “NOOOOOOOOOO!â€
Medy tried to hit Marluxia in the back; but Flower Power was too fast for him to handle. The head of his scythe went through the part of his body where his heart should’ve been. Another “Urk!†was released from Medy as he disappeared…sitar as well.
Marluxia took in a deep breath.
“Well done. You should applaud yourself.â€
Marluxia looked up the wall, and noticed Zexion sitting there, smiling. “You know, Medy was the hardest, and you figured out a way to beat him. Congratulations.
“Are you rea-â
“NO MORE ILLUSIONS!†Marluxia screeched. He swam up towards Zexion, whose face became pale quickly. He created a Corridor of Darkness and fled through it; Marluxia followed.

There we go. Big battle is coming up in the next few chapters. -
I'm a heartless...Maybe because in real life I'm so cold. But anyhow, I think I'll stay away from all the Soras, Rikus, and Roxas...s for a bit.
