... If the blades we see Terra, Ven, and Aqua using ARE just lumps of metal, as Pika_power put it... then they'd have to be very POWERFUL 'lumps of metal'...
Take the 'Lingering Spirit'/'Enigmatic Soldier' battle.... If it's not a Keyblade, then it's something new and possibly even more powerful... A bike, a whip, a 'grenade'-launcher! It takes all of those forms...
And since when has the WEAPON someone has indicated how high they are on the general 'power' list? MX has a Keyblade, no-one's arguing about that... DS has a Keyblade... I don't THINK anyone's arguing about that...
It seems to me that the lack of Keychains on Terra, Aqua, and Ven's weapons could just mean that they made them, and as such don't need the Keychain to help summon those ones in particular... But then, that's just me...
As for Disney characters not aging in the normal way, think about this... in the flashback scene where we see Ansem the Wise and Mickey talking, Mickey looks young (almost equivalent to someone in early twenties, maybe). 'UM' looks much older than that, so I sincerely doubt they're the same mouse.... Maybe father and son?
Oh, and since when did the Keyblade influence when Drive could be used?
In my experience (which, admittedly, isn't as good as it could be...) Reflect spells in KH2 can only protect the caster... but Aqua's spell looked like a remote Reflega to me... If that's not 'advanced magic', I don't know what is.
Yeah, Mickey was being taught in magic by Yen Sid, BUT there IS another reason it's unlikely that Mickey was Terra/Ven/Aqua's teacher. He's too young. The mouse we see in the secret movie looks older than Mickey could possibly be at that point (take a look at the flashback scene where we see him talking with Ansem the Wise in Radiant Garden...) It's more likely that the mouse is Mickey's father, or something... and the 'Master Key' (or 'Inverted Kingdom Key' if you prefer...) might be some kind of royal heirloom... I dunno...
One thing I noticed, is, if it's the lighting or the area he's in, that NO-ONE else's eyes change like that. It seems unlikely they'd do something like that for one character's graphics, and no-one else's.
That is a major reason why I say it's NOT lighting.
Still, if you guys can think of something to prove my take on things is wrong, I'm all ears... err... eyes...
You know... the mere term 'chained' gives the impression of it being weaker -at least to me.
Also, you missed out on a few spells... Aqua also cast a blizzard spell, or maybe it was a thunder... one of those two (or maybe both)... Besides, the boys don't seem the type to use magic all that often, from their fighting styles...
Maybe our definitions of colour are different... I've always seen them as being bright blue (lighter than Sora's) in KH1... but anyways... thanks for saying that, Repliku. Kinda helps with my confidence... heh :)
The Kingdom Key, without a Keychain? Hmm... Maybe. After all, if my theory IS correct, maybe the Keyblade Sora has isn't even Kingdom Key? Instead one that 'wears' the Kingdom Key Keychain...
As for Kairi's Keyblade, yes, it does have a Keychain (it's a paopu, if you're wondering)
I made a topic about it because it's much more drastic a colour change than anything we've seen in KH so far, other than Riku's eyes changing from blue to aqua, and then to orange when he took the form of Xehanort. It's just something I thought people may have noticed and maybe have a theory about it.
Don't bite my head off for wondering about something, will ya?
I have a reason why I don't think it's the lighting.
If it WAS, then why are they the brighter green in Betwixt and Between? It has the same sort of light as Hollow Bastion, and in HB, his eyes tend to be paler.
My theory is that it's either 'emotions' or something we haven't even heard of before.
It's just something that really caught my eye... After all, in most things like KH, changing eye-colour usually means something to do with an 'other side' or something...
As for it maybe being just natural changing like in the real world, I've never really heard of it happening with decidedly-green eyes. Hazel, yup (got 'em myself...)... various blue-greens/blue-greys/green-greys... yeah... but never pure green.
*shrug* Maybe I'm thinking too much about this... heheh...
Not completely. It just seems to me that it just may be looking too far into it. *shrugs* That's your theory, though, and I really do have to respect you for sticking to it like you are.
My take on things is as I've said before... That Keychains are means for blades to act/look etc like others... it's quite possible that they'd be more powerful than blades that don't have Keychains (you know... a double-up of power or something... their power and the power of the other blade). That, to me, could explain one reason why Baldy kicked their butts (or it could just be that the trio ARE students going up against a master...) and still work -a bit- with your ideas.
I apologise if that's how I made it sound... It's just that your stressing of the fact of Baldy's and the apprentice's blades having Keychains and Terra's, Ven's and Aqua's not having them is kinda repetitive... but then, I guess that makes me no better.
I think it's just a little... quick, maybe?... to judge them so quickly. Their weapons look like the Keyblades we know (at very least to a certain extent) sans the whole Keychain thing... We've never even seen the spell Baldy used to freeze Ven, so we don't know if it can break something that couldn't otherwise BE broken, and if you really think about it, the trio are probably still learning at the time the movies are set, while Baldy's a Master.
Not to mention, maybe Baldy's a very different teacher to Terra's/Ven's/Aqua's? We don't know... Maybe there's just a very big difference between how they're taught and how the apprentice is... (hence why he kicked their butts)?
