I was lying on the ground in Hollow Bastion; I was in a fight, with some people from the so-called restoration committee. I was outnumbered like. I’ve got a big gash in my side and I think I’ve got a cut on my head. I’m not sure, I can’t reach my hand up to touch it, I feel so tired…..so tired……….

Meanwhile, Tifa, a young woman, was walking back from the market with some shopping; she was on her way to her house when she spotted something. It was a guy, he was on the ground. The black cloak that he was wearing showed that he was none other than an organization member. He looked unconscious. She walked up to him and put her shopping on the ground and knelt beside him, he looked really hurt, a big gash in his side and a cut on his head……….

What should I do with him, I can’t leave him here……even if he is an organization member……

Tifa quickly picked him up, she was surprised at how light he was as she carried him back to her house, and forgot about her shopping………

Where? Where am I? Who……who is there……………………….?

Axel awoke; he was lying in a bed in someone’s house, who?

“You’re awake!†he heard a women’s voice call out, he peered around and saw a black haired women come into the room, she went and sat on a chair and looked at him. Axel didn’t know if he should say something or not, there was a long silence, when he finally said, “um…how’d…..I get here?â€
“Well…†she said nervously, “I sort of found you unconsciousâ€
A spark of memory triggered in Axel’s mind as he remembered the fight. He also just noticed he had bandages round him. He blushed…..she must have taken his coat off……..
“You know……†he said, “I am an organization memberâ€
“I know†she said, “I couldn’t leave you there to die though†she blushed a little as she said this. Axel was amazed by her kindness.

She actually saved my life…and she knew I was an organization member…….

“T…thanks†he said.

There was a moment of silence and they both looked at each other.

Wow. His eyes are like glowing emeralds, and I’ve never seen hair such a cool colour! Wait! What the earth am I saying………….

Can’t believe she done that, she’s so pretty, I like her. Wait.

“Oh no I forgot my shopping!â€
“I can get it†said Axel, and he disappeared through a darkness portal.
“Here!†he appeared again and produced Tifa’s shopping proudly.
“Thanks so much†she beamed at him.
“I owe you one†He said, “You know for saving me an everythingâ€. “I’ll have to go; the organization will be wondering were the earth I’ve been.†She smiled at him, she wished he would stay a little longer……

“Oh yeah I’m Axel by the way.â€

“Tifa†She wanted the courage to ask him something. “Will I see you again?â€

“Yeah,†He said, Tifa looked doubtful. “I promise.†Then he disappeared.

In the Organization Base………………

“Axel! Why were you late?†Xemnas demanded, pointing a furious finger at Axel.

“Sorry I got………distracted,†he replied calmly, as he sat down in his chair.

“Why were you distracted,†said Xemnas, he was waiting to hear one of Axel’s long dramatic excuses, which he found quite entertaining, but he didn’t get the chance, as Demyx piped up and started ranting on, saying that Xaldin was poking him with his lances that Larxene had nicked his stuff and Luxord had…….

“ENOUGH!!!†boomed Xemnas, the whole org fell silent. “Let us continue with our meeting,†and the meeting continued as usual, with Xemnas’s droning tone on and on….

The next day Axel wanted to see Tifa again, so he decided he would go in the morning, before any annoying missions that Xemnas had in store for them. So he sneaked out and went to Hollow Bastion. He looked around, but unfortunately he forgot were her house was……………….

Tifa was in her bedroom, anxiously wondering if Axel would come back to see her,
“I think I’ll go look for him,†she said to herself and rushed out the door. She was just turning round the corner when she bumped into someone. “S…sorry,â€she said and she looked up, “Axel!†she exclaimed, “Tifa!!†They blushed at each other shyly.
“I was…err, looking for you†he said,
“Me too!!†she giggled.
“I forgot were your house was….he he.â€
“It’s just round the corner, come on, do you want a drink?â€
“Yeah that’d be nice,†he replied.
They went into Tifa’s house. “It’s not very big, but I’m not in much…..I usually hang out at the Restoration Committee base, she said, “sit down, what would you like, I’ve got juice or water?â€
“Yeah, uh juice will be fine,†he replied, he wished he could have something to eat, he never had any breakfast this morning………
Tifa seemed to sense this, “I’ve got some food if you like, there’s some chicken if you want a sandwich,†she held out a pack of chicken.
“Yes please,†he said. For the rest of the day they talked and laughed and when it was night they watched a movie, they sat on the squashy sofa, and when the movie ended, they were both asleep, Tifa had her head rested on Axel’s shoulder and Axel’s head was leaned against her.

In the morning Yuffie happened to come for a visit and saw Axel and Tifa on the sofa.
“Heee heeee, cloud won’t be happy about that,†and she skipped out the door giggling.
*****************************************************************“Where is Axel!!!!†shouted Xemnas, practically shaking the whole org base with his voice.
“I dunno,†replied Demyx, just because no one else had said anything, he regretted this though.
“Well, Demyx you can just go find him!â€
“Aww, butâ€
“NOW!â€
Demyx opened a darkness portal and scuttled away. He went to Hollow Bastion first because he knew that Axel always went there to get ice cream, he saw a person running out of a house, so he suspected Axel was in there, anyone would run from Axel, he thought as he disappeared behind the door. He peered around, and saw Axel’s unmistakeable shock of red hair sticking out from on the sofa. He went in front of the sofa and was about to shout at him when he gasped.
“Oh. My. God……..wait till Xemnas hears this!â€

Demyx had barely set foot in the org base when he started ranting on about what he had seen.
“Axel….he is in a house…a girl…he was ….with her …and and and…….â€
“Demyx calm down!†said Xemnas “where is he? What did you see?â€
Demyx took a breath, “Axel was in a house in Hollow Bastion, he was with a woman, they were together like, like……you know!â€
“Yes……â€said Xemnas, “this is very bad……we shall wait until he returns and I’ll see to it he doesn’t see that girl again.â€

Tifa awoke and saw Axel snoring softly beside her, she smiled and got up. Axel awoke ten minutes later.
“Oh god!†he exclaimed and jumped up, “the org are gonna kill me!†he made a darkness portal “sorry†he said “I got to go,†and ran in the portal with a panic.
“So were have you been, Axel,†said Xemnas in a soft, calm tone. Something must be up, he never talks like that, thought Axel. “We found out Axel, Demyx saw you.†Axel glared at Demyx and Demyx gave a little smug smile. “You are forbidden to see that girl again, Axel, is that clear,†said Xemnas.
“Yes†said Axel wretchedly, staring down at his feet.

A couple of hours later, Axel was in his room, he was in despair, because earlier , they asked him to get rid of Roxas, he said he would, but he wasn’t going to, not his best friend even though it meant betraying the org. Also he couldn’t go see Tifa. Axel decided to get away, now, because the org will find out that he betrayed them, and they would kill him, he knew that. He quickly opened a darkness portal to Tifa’s house.

She was there but cowering in a corner.
“Tifa, what’s up?†up he asked.
“Axel! RUN!!!â€
“What!!†Axel turned sharply around to see a guy with blond spiky hair and a HUGE Sword. It was Cloud.

Axel didn’t have to guess, he knew. This was Tifa’s boyfriend. Before Axel could react a crashing blow sent him to the floor, he tried to get up, but the sword was at his neck.
“You evil nobody!!†Cloud shouted, and was about to plunge his sword into Axel, when Axel sent a flame at his face, causing Cloud to leap back. Axel got up and took out his chakras and prepared to fight.
The fight went on for ages, Tifa was screaming and crying as Axel was pummelled. Axel lay sprawled out on the floor, he knew he was no match for Cloud. Cloud was about to deliver the death blow, when Tifa jumped in front of him, her body shielding Axel.
“Tifa! What are you doing! He is a nobody,†shouted Cloud.
“He is a good nobody, he is always there for me! Unlike you Cloud, you’re always away and you’re too busy mourning your past!†Shouted Tifa. Cloud, with a shocked look on hid face left, the door slamming behind him.
“Thanks†she heard Axel whisper weakly.
“Axel!!†she cried looking down at his battered body. “I need to get you some place safeâ€
“It’s ok,†said Axel getting up and staggering, Tifa had to hold him up as he sat down on the sofa. “The org will be after me soon,†he said sighing.
“Why?†said Tifa worriedly.
“They wanted me to kill my best friend, Roxas, I’m not going to.†He said.
“No you can’t, that’s awful†she said.
“Yeah,†he said, as he fell asleep.

The next day Axel was feeling better, and could walk by himself. He left Tifa because he knew the org would come looking there first. He met Roxas in Twilight Town, on the station tower.
“I’m going back to how I was,†said Roxas.
“I’ve thought about it a lot, Namine said the same thing,†Axel said, “Roxas, you have a heart, don’t you? While Namine and I……We don’t have hearts….do we?â€
“I…….I don’t know either.†replied Roxas.
“No…I guess not.†said Axel.
“But the heart’s not something you can see…..I’ve started wondering if it’s something you can’t feel either……if so then……oh never mind.â€
“Hm….What’re you getting at?†asked Axel.
“I’m sure Sora’ll find the answer, because he’s me.â€
“Yeah, that’s true†said Axel as he handed Roxas a sea-salt ice cream. “This really takes me back, d’you remember, we first met the day you got your new name. And then we watched the sunset from up here.†said Axel.
“Yeah this is were I came from†Replied Roxas, “Everyone, Hayner, Pence, Olette, I hope they’re ok,†he said sadly.
“You should go see them, looking for your answer,†said Axel.
“Yeah†replied Roxas, “so I have to go, Sora’s waiting for meâ€
“Yeah, I guess he is,†Axel wanted him to stay, But he knew he had to do this, and Roxas wanted to.
“See ya, Axel,â€
“See ya, partner†and Roxas disappeared. Axel knew he would never see his friend again.

Axel went to Tifa’s house and left her a note. Then he disappeared.

Sora was fighting with millions of nobodies in the passage between the world that never was and Twilight Town, Axel appeared and helped him fight them. After a while Axel said, “I kinda liked it better when they were on my side,â€
“Feeling a little regret?†asked Sora.
“Nah….I can handle these pinks, watch this,â€

This is it

Axel did a huge attack, a blast of flames like a bomb, so big it killed all of the nobodies.
“Whoa!†said Sora. He turned and saw Axel, lying on the ground, slowly fading away.
“You’re....... fading away!†said Sora.
“Well, that’s what happens when you put you’re whole being into and attack, know what I mean?†said Axel, “Not that nobodies actually HAVE beings, rite?â€
“Axel, what were you trying to do?†asked Sora.
“I wanted to see Roxas,†he replied, “ he made me feel…..like I had a heart, it’s kind of….funny, you make me feel the same, Kairi’s in the castle dungeon now go†Axel opened a darkness portal. The last thing he thought of was:

Sorry Tifa.

Tifa arrived at her house, she was so worried about Axel, she didn’t know what to do.
She spotted a note on her pillow.

It says:

To Tifa.

It’s Axel. Before I start I want to tell you that I’m sorry, and if I could’ve done something I would’ve.
My best friend is gone, he was the nobody of Sora, he went back to him. The org are still after me, I expect, and I have no where to go. And there’s Cloud. The org would have got me, eventually, and They would probably get you too, I didn’t want you to see me die. It would be hard for you if the org or Cloud had got me, so I made it this way.
So that when you found out I’m dead it won’t hurt as much. I have one thing to tell you that I never could.
I love you, and always have since the day I met you. You were the best thing that happened to me, and i'd give anything to be with you longer, you were the one who saved me, even though i was a nobody, thank you. You have your life, and I want you to carry it on, and whatever you do, I’ll be behind you every step of the way. And when your feeling lonely, think of me and I’ll be there, wherever you are, I’m always with you. Just remember that.
