I’ve read The Great Gatsby and think it’s a masterpiece. Fitzgerald’s writing is spectacular, the characters are flawed, engaging, layered, the plot is unexpected, and the entire novel is a grand metaphor for the American Dream. Besides that, it captures the Roaring 20’s perfectly, complete with the decadence, the ostentation, luxury and frivolity. It really lives up to its reputation of being a classic.
